LOVE, SEX & MOTHERHOOD

You are a mother, wife, girlfriend, coworker, caregiver, friend. Of all the many hats you may wear, at the end of the day you are a WOMAN. A woman with love, intimacy, and sex needs that don't go away because of motherhood. Sex should not be a taboo topic for women. But when you become a mom, it's as if society expects you to totally curb your sexuality. But let's talk about sex.

Sex actually has many benefits. Not just physically but emotionally and psychologically too. One major issue that many of us have is making time for more intimacy. Getting in the mood at the end of the night may be trumped by exhaustion. No matter how good we know it can be, you still have to make conscious effort to have more sex in your relationship. Plan it, schedule it, talk about it often with your partner. Make it happen! Sex is like getting a quick cardio workout in, it releases endorphins (your body's natural feel good hormone) and can decrease stress levels. It strengthens the bond in your relationship. That is definitely some incentive to start meeting those needs more often.

You don't need a partner to embrace your sexuality. Self -love is powerful and can be just as effective. Not to mention safer than some other options. Don't feel lonely or ashamed of loving on you. We should get to know our bodies anyway. It even helps make sex more enjoyable with a partner down the line because you already know what feels good. Throw away that old school thinking that women should repress their sexual desires. Feel empowered and own it.

Feeling sexy after motherhood can be a challenge to embracing sexuality for many women. So many ladies don't even recognize or feel comfortable in their post baby bodies. Momma, you gave life! That is amazing and every stretch mark is proof that you are what God made you to be. Television and social media will have you fooled. You are beautiful. But to feel sexier, try investing in some silk nightgowns to wear to bed. Your partner will love the silky material and it's still comfortable. Even if you don't go to bed with anyone, wearing something a little sexy can help you feel better about yourself too. Accept the love any way it comes!
