I went to school at Oldwestbury for my BA in English multicultural literature. Before becoming a stay at home mommy I was a Director of after school for k-8. I absolutely loved working with the youth!

 

Why I started my blog?

A few people have asked me why I started this blogging page. I have always wanted to start a blogging page to exercise my English degree and have a platform to speak my views. I just never had the time to sort my ideas and lay them out articulately enough for someone to understand. I also felt like I didn't have enough content and focus. Now as a stay at home mom I have just a little bit of time to write down my thoughts. House chores and my little one do not allow me too much time but I steal a few hours.

When I was pregnant I began getting lots of maternity ads and baby ads. My social network timelines were full of motherhood accessories and information. However when I really looked at the ads, when I hashtagged mommy or baby I rarely saw the face of a black person.  That is how I came up with the name "Melinated Mommy". We need more things for us specifically because we are not included in the majority!
