Go To The Dr and Sign You and Your Baby's Life Away!

Updated: Mar 5, 2020

Can we talk about taking your kids to the doctor? Recently I noticed when taking my daughter to the dr that I have to sign consent forms that I cannot see. Now this has happened to me a few times at my own doctors but I personally never had so much of a problem until I had to sign forms for my baby that I couldnt see. This new electronic signature situation is not efficient and its scary. I should always be provided a look at what I am signing. I posted in a few mom groups on FB about my experience at my daughters doctor and I was surprised to see a few other moms felt the same way I did. I just needed to know if I was overreacting or what. Other moms also feel this needs to change! These doctor‘s offices need to go back to paper or get dual screens so when its time for the patients or patient's parents to see the forms they are signing, they dont have to inconvenience the person behind the desk.

I feel strange to even say that "I dont want to inconvenience the person behind the desk". Wait a min! That person is at work and needs to fulfill thier job duties which means if I want to see what im signing then I should be able to without a hastle or huffing and puffing. This is a new thing I've noticed in society recently, you can't ask people to do their damn job without some type of attitude or issue. This will be my new Motto: "do the job you are paid to do or I'm contacting management" (it's above me now).

Usually when I take her to the doctor and the front desk prompts me to sign the electronic pad I always ask what am I signing and that usually entails huffing and puffing from the person behind the desk. They do not always explain as they ask you to "sign, sign and initial." Whenever I say "I would just like to see or know what I am signing", its usually responded to with eye rolling and "I can just get you copies at the end". Copies at the end? And now I'm receiving huffing and puffing from the line forming behind me. This is what has made me hesitate on asking further questions about what I'm signing and why I cant see it right now as im signing? So I have just signed my life away and have not seen what I signed it away to. I hate that! Excuse my improper language but "where they do that at?!!" Where do we allow this to happen in the legal world?

"Sign this legal document!....No, you don't get to see what your signing until after you've signed it!"

I could be signing anything. Moving forward I will ask to see what I am signing as I sign it and I wont feel any type of way about it! That's it, I'm asking people to do their job!"

I am well aware of my rights to receive a copy of my paper work but I need more than that. I need to see what I'm signing and preferably not get attitude about it!
