How do you define balance? Finding balance can be different for different people. For me balance is having harmony and peace in my life. I can reflect back where I experienced issues in all areas of my life and balance seemed so far away. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know how I could find any balance in my life. I knew that finding balance is necessary. Are you at a place where you desire peace and balance in your life? How can we find balance in our lives as a mom? How can we find balance between mom life; when supporting our families, and trying to achieve personal financial goals? Many of us are raising our children, and we may have children spreading from different age ranges. If you are like me I have a 20 year old who is in college, a 15 year old who is a Freshman in High School, and active in multiple sports, and a 5 year old who takes many different lessons such as dance, ballet, and tap. Trying to balance providing for your family and meeting your financial goals can be difficult but it’s not impossible. There can be a healthy balance between the two. Actually to equal the balance, meeting your financial goals should be a top priority, because freeing up your money will allow you to do more of the things you desire with your family.

How can we make it work, and create a healthy balance? 1. Knowing exactly what you need in order to provide and support your family. This is very important. What does it take to provide for your house hold? What is the need for each family member in your home? This is done by creating a plan, establishing goals, and having a vision for your family. Knowing what your family need will help you find the balance financially. It puts you in a better position to provide, and it’s a big factor with your financial goals. 2. Take notice of your feelings. When making financial decisions make sure you pay attention to the feelings behind it, are you uncertain about the decision? Don’t ignore the feeling, face it, and think of how this will impact your family long term. Will it impact your financial goals? Is this something that your family need now, or does it require further planning? Will it push you further back? The imbalance comes from making quick decisions that can impact you financially, which could possibly lead to pushing you in more debt. Having more debt than you are financially equipped to handle, can affect your focus on your family’s needs. 3. Does it serve the vision you have for your family? This is huge each year and each stage of life, things may not no longer serve you. If something doesn’t align with your family’s vision, goals, and financial goals, it may no longer be right for you. That is perfectly fine, as we grow personally, and as a family, it’s ok to identify what is no longer needed, and make the appropriate changes that best fit your family’s needs. 4. Remove the thought that the balance between mom life and meeting your financial goals has to be perfect. Both are equally important. Your family life and financial journey will not be perfect. It will be different from others journeys, so we have to avoid comparison, because comparison distracts you from your goals. We will face unexpected things throughout our lives that causes us to put things on hold, however knowing that there is a line between preparation and perfection alleviates the stress. Preparation is allowing you to put things in place for your family’s future. It doesn’t have to be perfect for things to be working. So, just because it may appear to not be happening as quickly as you want it to, or how you expect it to, doesn’t mean that it’s not working. Embrace your journey, and focus on progress instead of perfection. Final Thoughts. These are just some tips that can help you find balance in your life and put some things in perspective as a mom who is trying to balance providing for a family, and still focus on your financial goals. The key that will connect the pieces is establishing a plan. Your plan will keep you committed. It will provide you with the foundation to the vision you have for your family. Without vision, you will find yourself still, not knowing how to move forward. What’s most important is you being present in your life, you being a priority in your life; which allows you to do what is necessary in order to find balance. What does balance look like for you?
